Abstract

The experience report entitled “From Oral Tradition to Formal Education: An Account of an Experience in History” aims to reflect on João Paulo Lopes' academic trajectory in the History course at the State University of Amazonas (UEA) and the transformative role of history teaching in the critical training of new educators. The methodology adopted includes bibliographic research and the valorization of personal memories, with an emphasis on oral history as a teaching tool. The results demonstrate that practical experiences, such as debates and oral history projects, were essential to developing a critical vision and broadening the understanding of the plurality of historical narratives. The conclusion highlights the importance of integrating theory and practice in history teaching, suggesting the implementation of extension projects and the use of digital technologies to enrich learning. The report reaffirms the need for an education that values diverse voices and experiences, contributing to the formation of critical and conscious citizens.
