Recorrências e reinterpretações do estilo gótico na cena musical contemporânea: o programa criativo da banda Cocteau Twins para o álbum Treasure.

Abstract

This paper presents critical considerations about the work of the rock gothic/post-punk Scottish band Cocteau Twins, with a main focus on their third album, called Treasure. Here, are discussed the relations between the historical visual-literary gothic in comparison with the Goth subculture from the late 1970s. Furthermore, is elaborated about the history of the group, what influenced them and the construction of their peculiar sound until the conception of the previously mentioned record. Are, also, pointed musical aspects related to form and sound in the songs, its impact on Cocteau Twins’ late discography and its influence on other artists.
