Santo Antônio de Borba: história, fé e turismo

Abstract

This article analyzes the Festejo de Santo Antônio de Borba, highlighting its relevance as an expression of Borba's historical-cultural identity and as a potential tourist attraction in the interior of Amazonas. Borba, located on the banks of the Madeira River, has a rich history linked to Catholic religious missions, which contributed to the formation of its religious and cultural identity. Devotion to Saint Anthony has been consolidated over the centuries, becoming one of the most important religious manifestations in the state. The research adopted a qualitative and quantitative methodology, with bibliographical research, documentary and field research, in addition to the preparation of a detailed calendar of religious and cultural activities that make up the celebration. The results indicate that the celebration goes beyond the strictly religious character, becoming an important cultural and social element, boosting tourism and promoting local development.
