Narrativas orais de moradores quilombolas do distrito Santa Tereza – Matupiri do Baixo Amazonas

Abstract

This study delves into the universe of oral narratives of Quilombola residents of the Santa Tereza-Matupiri District, in the Lower Amazon, municipality of Barreirinha Amazonas. Oral narratives, in their essence, represent one of oldest forms of transmission of knowledge, values, and traditions, long preceding writing. The study focuses on analyzing the life stories of Maria Amélia dos Santos Castro, Moisés Andrade de Souza and Sebastiana Ribeiro de Castro. The main objective of this study was to analyze the life narratives and stories of the quilombola residents of Santa Tereza to understand how these stories act in the transmission of knowledge, in the maintenance of traditions and in the construction of cultural identity. With theoretical foundations in authors such as: Alberti (2013), Barthes (1987), Benjamin (1978), Bosi (1994), Halbwachs (1968), Meihy (2002), Pollak (1992) (1989), and Ricouer (2005). The methodology used in this research adopts a qualitative approach, with procedures based on oral history. This methodology uses the technique of interviews and oral reports as sources for the construction of history, focusing on the memories and experiences of individuals and social groups. The study is bibliographic in nature and includes field research. The results achieved what was proposed, as it possible to understand the importance of oral narratives in preserving the memory, identity, and traditions of the Santa Tereza quilombola community. Therefore, narratives play a central role in the preservation of quilombola culture and should be recognized as instruments of cultural affirmation and appreciation of Brazilian diversity. It is important to emphasize the recognition and appreciation of these narratives, which are essential not Only for the Santa Tereza Quilombola community, but also for society that benefits from the cultural diversity they represent.
