Resumo

Cassava flour is one of the main sources of food and also serves as one of the main sources of income for riverside communities. This study aims to identify the mathematical ideas present in the cassava flour production process in the Nova Jesuânia community, Amaturá – AM. Authors such as D´Ambrósio (1990,1993,1998,1999,2004,2014,2018), Knijnik (2019), among others, tell us that people in their daily lives find their own ways to solve problems that involve mathematical concepts and these media present traces of their own culture. Inspired by qualitative research methodology, data and information were collected through photos, notes, observations, questions and participation in the cassava flour production process. The results obtained indicate that farmers from the Nova Jesuânia community developed a series of specific mathematical knowledge that is presented at each stage in the cassava flour production process, where various conventional procedures can be observed, such as: counting procedure, measurement length and area or meter, measurement of volume or kilogram, measurement of time, notion of parallelism, proportionality and notion of area calculation, among others; and unconventional, such as: fathom, block, steps, among others.
