Resumo
The purpose of this research is to reflect on the Group Piano Teaching - EPG - and
its implementation in Brazil. This work is necessary for pointing out the development
of the EPG over time and for recognizing how it has been carried out in Brazilian
universities. For the accomplishment of this work, a bibliographical review was
conducted by means of articles, thesis and dissertations referring to the theme,
giving preference to Brazilian and current authors. Through the description of the
musical education model proposed by Swanwick, a discussion was made seeking to
ponder on how the EPG has been realized in some Brazilian universities departing
from its course syllabus. We acknowledge that the EPG's modifications over time
reveal an important progress in the direction of a music education that does not
prioritize on performance and leads to a current and more integrated musical
education.
