Tecendo empoderamento: o papel do artesanato da floresta na autonomia das mulheres em Careiro/Am

Abstract

This academic project explores the role of forest crafts in the autonomy of women in Careiro/AM, focusing on the traditional weaving technique with ambé vine, promoted by Casa do Rio. Using the oral history method, the study seeks to understand how crafts contribute to economic emancipation and female empowerment, strengthening cultural identity and sustainability in the region. The research addresses the processes of collection and artisanal production, highlighting the impact of the practice on the lives of the artisans and on cultural preservation. Interviews conducted with local artisans and theoretical analysis based on authors such as Manuela Carneiro da Cunha and Roque de Barros Laraia provide an understanding of the complexities and cultural meanings of the artisanal practice, as well as the challenges faced, such as the recognition and appreciation of artisanal work. The research results indicate that crafts contribute not only to income generation but also to the self-esteem and empowerment of women, promoting an inclusive and sustainable development model.
