Abstract

This book is part of the collection Education in the countryside, waters and forests: weaving teacher training curricula in the Amazon context. It reflects on Portuguese language teaching from a socio-cognitive approach, understanding that teaching practices must be based on concepts and worldviews that are coherent with the people they are aimed at, i.e. the students. In this sense, it aims to train teachers who are aware of the task of cultivating in their future students an education for democracy, social justice and the right to meaningful learning.
