Resumo

Malaria is a disease caused by protozoa of the genus Plasmodium spp., transmitted mainly by the bite of infected female mosquitoes of the genus Anopheles spp., with emphasis on the species Anopheles darlingi. The disease is considered endemic in the Amazon region, due to the large number of positive cases reported in retroactive years. The general objective of this research was to carry out an epidemiological survey of malaria cases in the municipality of Tabatinga-AM, with the aim of tracing the profile of the disease during the years 2015 to 2019. An epidemiological survey of malaria cases in the municipality of Tabatinga was carried out , State of Amazonas and, in addition, we sought to know what prevention, control and combat methods are used for malaria. From this perspective, this work is a descriptive/exploratory work of field/bibliographical research, with a focus on outlining the profile of the disease. In the interval proposed for the epidemiological survey of positive cases of malaria in the municipality of Tabatinga, Amazonas, Brazil, a gradual and significant reduction in the number of reported positive cases was clearly noticed. And that the prophylactic measures adopted in the municipality through diagnosis and treatment of symptomatic patients, health education, indoor residual spraying, installation of mosquito nets impregnated with insecticide and supervision in malaria laboratories, have been effective with the reduction in the last five years by 93% of malaria cases. Therefore, it is concluded that the actions in education and health and the methods of combating and preventing the transmitting mosquito applied in the municipality, in fact, contributed over these five years covered in the research (2015 to 2019), to the reduction in notifications.
