Resumo

Biological collections have become very important in the knowledge generation process and, therefore, play a fundamental role in learning / teaching. The herbarium supports taxonomic, ecological and physiological studies in the fields of economic, ethnobotanical botany and in all scientific activities for the conservation of local floras. It is also necessary to know how to collect, preserve and organize the material and how to use it in a didactic way. The aim of the present study was to prepare a collection of the most consumed vegetables in the municipality of Parintins. The collections were carried out in places where vegetable plantations occur. The collected material was photographed, pressed and stored inside newspapers and boxes. The preservation of fleshy fruits was carried out in liquid medium in glass containers with 70% alcohol and glycerin. Soon after, the plant material was placed in an oven at 60 ° C. Thus, all species were identified. In total, 17 species from 9 families were found, brought together and studied. Solanaceae were the family with most species occurring. A catalog with descriptions and illustrations of the vegetables collected, shows the variability of the species studied. The catalog and the material collected were deposited in the herbarium of the Center for Higher Studies in Parintins, for didactic purposes and, thus, familiarize students with the diversity of vegetables present in the municipality.
