Resumo
This research aimed to explore the use of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) technologies as pedagogical tools in teaching Natural Sciences to students in the 6th year of elementary school II at a public school in Coari-AM. The research was justified by the need for innovation in Science teaching, which is often based on traditional and not very engaging methods. Through the literature review, AR and VR applications were identified that could be used in teaching Natural Sciences. Subsequently, the Feature Analysis technique was used to select the applications to be used, thus choosing the Merge Explorer applications that uses AR and MEL VR Science Simulations that uses VR. The research followed a qualitative methodology, with steps that included literature review, initial proposal, feasibility study, study planning, study execution and analysis of results. Data collection consisted of three methods, the first being the participant characterization form, the second the post-test questionnaire based on the technological acceptance model and the observation study carried out during the application of AR and VR technologies in teaching classes. Natural Sciences. The results revealed that the majority of students had no prior experience with technologies. Data from the post-
test questionnaires indicated a positive impact on student interest and engagement, making teaching more dynamic and demonstrating technological acceptance. These results were achieved through the observation study, which identified the engagement of students and the adaptation of some who, initially, demonstrated difficulty in handling the VR glasses, but later used them appropriately. In addition to the benefits observed, the research identified challenges and limitations in its execution, enabling analysis for future studies that explore the use of AR and VR technologies in the educational context.
