Resumo
In the Amazon, fruit consumption represents the matrix of knowledge passed down through generations, playing an indispensable role in the economic and cultural condition of the state. In Parintins, the consumption of fruits, whether tropical or native, is deeply rooted in local traditions and tells stories that reflect the native heritage of the population. High lighting the importance of this consumption is to play a fundamental and physiological role in the cultural condition of the environment. The objective of this study was to conduct a survey of the most consumed and commercialized fruit species in the city of Parintins - AM in order to highlight their importance in local food and culture. The research was conducted observationally at the city's main markets. All species were identified, and a total of 48 species from 24 families were found. A booklet with descriptions and illustrations of the native fruits was prepared and subsequently attached to the document, to be deposited in the herbarium of the Centro de Estudos Superiores de Parintins - CESP, for educational purposes.
