Iniciativas e possibilidades de turismo de base comunitária na Comunidade do Maranhão Parintins- AM

Abstract

This article aimed to investigate the tourist potential in the Community of Maranhão, around Parintins/AM, based on the possibility of activating Community Based Tourism (TBC), aiming at the protagonism of local populations, having as a parameter the investigation of governance networks in the local. As specific objectives, we sought to: analyze the characteristics of the main networks of existing subjects and how they can collaborate in the formation of governance of the tourist activity and describe the basic geographic characteristics of the locality. As for the methodology adopted, a bibliographical review was carried out on TBC, field research was carried out to survey the tourist potential and a conversation wheel that resulted in the proposal of two maps of tourist attractions in the Community and surroundings. The research has an exploratory/descriptive character, using qualitative and quantitative methods. The project's results revealed that the existence of several networks of local subjects can be leveraged for the practice of Community Based Tourism.
