Resumo
This study seeks to understand the factors that contribute to school dropout among students in Youth and Adult Education (EJA), focusing on the 7th stage, where a significant decrease in student retention is noticeable. The objective is to investigate the main factors that lead to school dropout, as well as to suggest strategies to promote continuity and educational success in this population. The research adopts a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative methods. Initially, structured questionnaires were applied to EJA students and teachers at the school in question, allowing the identification of the perceptions of those involved. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistical techniques and content analysis. The results indicate that the main factors for school dropout in EJA include economic problems, an overload of family and work responsibilities. Furthermore, the research revealed that many students face motivational challenges and have difficulty reconciling their studies with daily demands. Based on the findings, the study proposes interventions that may include flexibility in class schedules, psychological support, and incentive programs for students to remain in school, aiming to minimize the barriers faced by students and increase completion rates in adult education programs.
