Resumo
This monograph investigates the use of ghost stories from Amazonian oral tradition as a strategy for literary literacy and the strengthening of cultural identity among 10th- grade students at a public school in Parintins (Amazonas), in 2025. The objective was to understand how these narratives can contribute to the development of literary literacy and to the appreciation of local culture within the school environment. The research adopts a qualitative approach with quantitative support, based on phenomenological and dialectical methods. The pedagogical actions were carried out through workshops involving reading, active listening, storytelling, and writing. The theoretical foundation is based on the contributions of authors such as Câmara Cascudo (2015), João de Jesus Paes Loureiro (2019), Marisa Lajolo (2017), Paulo Freire (1989, 1996), Regina Zilberman (2017), and Rildo Cosson (2009), among others. The results reveal that ghost stories not only expand students’ literary repertoire but also promote an affective recovery of local culture and encourage the development of a critical and meaningful reading of the world. The inclusion of regional expressions in the school context proves to be a powerful instrument of cultural resistance, literary literacy, and citizen formation.
