Saberes e hábitos tradicionais na preservação dos mamíferos aquáticos da Amazônia

Abstract

The Amazonian aquatic mammals, integrants of the the faunal biodiversity and high importance in the ecological aspect to which it is inserted, have faced a significant reduction in their population, now various species is in the red list of endangered animals considered by the International Unit for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and animals vulnerable on the National List of Endangered Species of Brazilian Fauna. The population reduction of these species is mainly linked to anthropic actions, and the propagation of the conservation of these mammals has occurred through projects developed by researchers mainly in schools and riverside communities. In this sense, this monographic work aims, through a review of scientific literature, to identify and analyze whether the articulation between ethno-knowledge and scientific knowledge can be a tool to contribute significantly to the conservation of aquatic mammals in the Amazon, considering the positive and negative aspects. which involve traditional conceptions in relation to these aquatic mammals.
