Avenida Eduardo Ribeiro: história, patrimônio cultural e turismo.

Abstract

The study reported in this monograph aimed to identify the historical, sociocultural and tourist elements that are part of the composition of Eduardo Ribeiro Avenue, Manaus-AM, sought to examine the relationship of these elements with tourism activity and their influence on the construction of the cultural heritage of the city of Manaus, besides the suggestion of a tourist itinerary facing the avenue, having as its fundamentals the tools of heritage interpretation. The general objective of the research was to investigate how Eduardo Ribeiro Avenue and its historical and tourist aspects can be analyzed in the context of heritage interpretation. Being its specific objectives: to identify the history of this road as well as its importance for the formation of manauara cultural heritage, to raise the current elements that make up the landscape of the street and to analyze its relation with the tourism and, finally, as a way to contribute with the manauara society and the tourist trade, a touristic itinerary is suggested, specifically directed to Eduardo Ribeiro Avenue, based on the principles of heritage interpretation. Considering the thematic of the study, the qualitative research was used in the methodology, the technical procedures were the bibliographical research, documentary and field study. As for the objectives, they are descriptive and exploratory in nature. Regarding the results, Eduardo Ribeiro Avenue is considered the main artery of downtown Manaus, this road has along its extension important historical buildings, and is one of the centers of commerce in the capital. The patio was built during the golden age of rubber, in which significant structural and sociocultural transformations took place in the city, and its emergence is due to the embankment of a stream, the Espírito Santo stream. By revealing such significant historical aspects, the study intends to present itself as a complementary tool to the preservation of the historical assets of the capital. In addition to contributing to local tourism by analyzing the relationship of the road with the tourist activity, and propose a new tourist service, the tourist itinerary of Eduardo Ribeiro Avenue, prepared by the author.
