Resumo
The use of plants for medicinal purposes is quite popular in addition to being a very old practice already used by humanity, being of great importance in the prevention and cure of illnesses and injuries. The ability of these plants to cure diseases, injuries, malaise, migraines or even as drinks and flavorings, has been arousing the interest of researchers worldwide. This research was developed with residents of the neighborhood of São Benedito, in the Municipality of Parintins / AM and aimed to identify the knowledge and the ethnobotanical use of the plants used by the residents of that neighborhood, through a qualitative research, where residents participated in interviews voluntarily, where narrating and responding about their knowledge and use of medicinal plants in their daily lives. The study also sought to conduct a survey on which plants were used most often and how residents used these plants. The main results obtained, from the interviews, show that most of these residents usually use medicinal plants for easy access, since most have these plants in their backyards and have inherited the recipes, utilities and cultivation method, from their ancestors . Therefore, it was concluded that in the São Benedito neighborhood, in the Municipality of Parintins-AM, the residents still keep alive the practice of using medicinal plants to cure their illnesses, injuries, making teas, flavorings, plasters, smoking and other purposes.
