Resumo

This undergraduate thesis (TCC) presents a brief study on the dialogues and tensions between indigenism and the indigenous movement in the Bumba-Meu-Boi performances of Parintins (Caprichoso and Garantido). The focus is on analyzing how these interactions impacted the representations of indigenous peoples brought to the Bumbódromo (the arena where the Boi-Bumbá festival is held). The research investigates how the indigenous figure (and its production) became a central expressive force of regional identity. This dynamic transformed the spectacle, which migrated from purely folkloric aspects to more critical and creative approaches to the cosmologies and realities of the indigenous peoples of the Amazon. The TCC aims to understand how indigenism constructs these representations and, fundamentally, how it opened space for a growing indigenous protagonism in this popular festival, contributing to a deeper understanding of the relationship between culture, politics, and identity in the Amazon.
