Abstract

This article aimed to conduct research on travelogues, focusing primarily on the Amazon region and its importance as historical sources. This research stemmed from a course of study that sparked an interest in further exploring the history of travelers, leading to the selection of several authors and a search for more information about them. The article sought to understand the reasons behind these journeys, particularly those who, for personal reasons, decided to travel to Brazil with the Amazon region as their main objective: to explore and study its riches. Some came for business, while others sought to study the fauna and flora, mineral resources, and tropical regions. These travelers recorded their impressions of the land and its customs in their diaries and books; their observations were extremely important in shaping the idea of Brazil in Europe.
