Resumo
This work proposes a reflection on the interpretation of an emblematic work from the cellist's repertoire: Concerto nº 1 in Do Maior for cello and Hob orchestra. VIIB. 1, attributed to the Austrian composer J.F.Haydn (1732-1809) and written between 1761-1765. Such reflection begins with a historical picture of the cello's origin and its organological transformations to the present day, with the help of iconography and other primary sources. We then perform a historical contextualization of the work under examination, through a brief biography of composer until the time of composing the concert and a description of how his score came to this day. Finally, our work points, with Harnoncourt and other authors, to two different interpretative approaches of the works of the past in general and of the Concerto in C major in particular: the contemporary and authentic interpretation.
