Resumo

This research is linked to Line 1: Society, State, Culture, and Public Security of the Graduate Program in Public Security, Citizenship, and Human Rights at the State University of Amazonas. It consists of an interdisciplinary investigation that articulates pedagogy, psychology, and criminology in critical dialogue from a historical-cultural perspective, aiming to investigate the significations produced by the school community regarding the management by the Amazonas Military Police at Professor Waldocke Fricke de Lyra State School, located in the periphery of the west zone of Manaus-AM, during the period from 2012 to 2022. Specifically, it seeks to understand the significations of the school community prior to the Military Police’s intervention, interpret the changes identified after the onset of the management, and analyze the significations produced by the school community a decade after the implementation of the Military Police’s management. The methodological approach adopted is qualitative, with a descriptive-explanatory nature, developed through field research, bibliographic review, and documentary analysis. Data collection was carried out using the focus group technique, involving 12 participants, including former students, teachers, a former employee, mothers of students, and community residents. For analysis and interpretation, the methodological procedure of the Signification Nuclei was used. The results indicated that the presence of the Military Police in school management was widely associated with improvements in discipline, reduction of school and neighborhood violence, and strengthening of ties between the school and the community. As a technical-technological product, the research resulted in the development of a podcast aimed at disseminating successful practices, gathering testimonies from former students, parents, and teachers, composing a narrative memorial of school trajectories. The objective is to publicize both the aspects considered essential for school success and the factors that hinder this process, based on the evaluations of the subjects involved, thus contributing to the necessary critique and consolidation of practices that promote quality education in the state of Amazonas.
