Resumo

This research is dedicated to explore the theoretical work of Alberto José Gomes da Silva, entitled Regras de Acompanhar para cravo, ou orgaõ, e ainda tambem para qualquer outro instrumento de vozes, reduzidas a breve methodo, e facil percepçaõ, first published in Lisbon in 1758. The work stands out in publications of the Lusitania as the first theoretical work devoted exclusively to the teaching of thoroughbass, and relates to the repertoire performed in the Iberian Peninsula during the second half of the Eighteenth century. Revisiting this work through a proposed annotated edition aims to bring to discussion the musical practices of the Eighteenth century, in addition to be a resource for analysis and observation of teaching music, presenting itself as a viable alternative to instrumentalists dedicated to historical performance . Keywords: Regras de Acompanhar; thoroughbass exercises; Alberto José Gomes da Silva; musical practices of the Eighteenth century.
