Resumo

This paper presents the iconographic analysis of the work of artist Hahnemann Bacelar reference to the historical context of the artist turned to the events of the time, the 1960s, which served him as a creative, poetic and critical ideal. More than the image description the research proposes inquire about the reality of the artist within a scenario condition of poverty and the testimony of his observation, which guarantees us today to view Manaus 1960s through different points of view. Averiguam up the symbolic elements that recognize the Amazonian Caboclo and its symbolic nature in the works of the artist. As allowed the recognition of customs and habits prevalent in the paintings that still persist today. To achieve this research was necessary theoretical basis of the field of iconography, among others, as Erwin Panofsky (2002 ), the study of Expressionism, W.D. Dube (1976 ) and the Fine Arts in Manaus, Luciane Páscoa (2002, 2006, 2011, 2012 ). KEY WORDS: Hahnemann Bacelar; Painting; Iconography, Culture.
