Edição crítica de Gli Eroi Spartani de Antonio Leal Moreira (1758-1819)

Abstract

This paper presents a musicological transcription of the serenade Gli Eroi Spartani, by the Portuguese composer Antonio Leal Moreira (1758-1819). Composed to celebrate the birthday of Don José, Prince of Brazil (1716-1788) in 1788, its score is conserved in the Ajuda's Library under the quotas P-La 48-II-16/ 17. The edition has been enriched by the confrontation with the Portuguese version that exists in a fragmentary condition in the Ducal Palace of Vila Viçosa (P-VV AMG-50 and P-VV AMG-82 quotas) and by alternative translation of the missing arias.
