Resumo
The purpose of this research is to recognize the relevance of "skunk dance" in formal education and as a folk expression of the history and culture of the Borbense people. To achieve this goal, dialogues were held with residents of the municipality about the origins and traditions in the scenario of the city of Borba-AM. As problematic we have: The educational practices of elementary school allow a highlight for the "Skunk dance" as a cultural historical expression of the Borbense people. Annually Borba honors Sto. Antônio, but there is a question that concerns the traditional revelries of the time that were lost, is the case of the skunk dance. Influenced by art I addressed the issue by interviewing former residents, students newly graduated from basic education, former Secretary of Culture and teachers in the expectation of relating dance as an art-culture element worked in basic education and as a folk expression of the history and culture of the municipality, as results: we saw that working the Skunk dance in schools exalting its real meaning expressed in the movements is necessary to reframe the distorted idea that is currently presented about this dance, taking forward the historical and social relations of Borba's ancestry.
