Resumo
This study aims to bring the history of the creation of the Dance Course at the Amazonas State University (UEA), explaining facts, people and contexts, from its birth in 2001, to the present day. It should be noted that this remains the only higher education course in this art in the city of Manaus. The Dance course at the Amazonas State University as well as the Higher School of Arts and Tourism became a starting point for researchers and producers of knowledge in dance, however few are the records of the arduous journey that resulted in the creation and development of that course. To start the first clarifications, we used the Political-Pedagogical Projects of the Dance Course from the years 2005, 2007 and 2013, which was not enough to reach an understanding. Thus, in addition to the first steps, we looked for people who were and are part of the daily life of the course who participated in the implementation, who gave us significant information through unstructured interviews reporting facts, deeds and stories of these two decades. The research is historical with a bibliographic survey and a qualitative approach for knowledge and clarification about this historical event.
