Resumo
The purpose of this paper is to review the bibliography and get to know the French flute school from the historical point of view and as a technical style, in order to understand what in fact this French school or tradition would be and which are the important names related to its creation. To do so, we paid special attention to the Paris Conservatory, which is the center of music in France, and to Paul Taffanel, considered by some authors as the "father" of the French school. The second part of the paper is dedicated to the French composer Cécile Chaminade and her Concertino in D major for flute, a piece written for the Paris Conservatory at the request of Taffanel; we tried to relate how the technical aspects of the school would be associated with the concertino; we presented the composer and made a general analysis of the solo for flute. Finally, we compared the performance of three flutists, always trying to find similarities or differences between them and the French school.
