Resumo
This study presents questions about the teaching of dance at school with the purpose
of reflecting on a social issue. The paper entitled "Escola: Quando o Ensino da
Dança propõe reflexões acerca da Violência Simbólica" is the result of exploratory,
qualitative field study research. The central objective of the work is to approach the
relation "dance-education x symbolic violence" as a potentiality applied to elementary
school II, dialoguing with content by Marcia Strazzacappa, Isabel Marques and Pierre
Bourdieu. Those involved in the research were students of the 9th grade of Carvalho
Leal State School, Manaus-AM, with ages between 14 and 15 years old. The
instrument of data collection was weekly meetings with classes and informal
interviews conducted with the class, the interpretation of the material was given by
content analysis. The main results show us that the proposed theme is pertinent, and
that in the future it may have a deeper understanding of the body that moves,
observes, and experiments. The adolescent has the possibility to critically read
society in a process of identification, through the language of dance, to deepen and
potentiate reflections on complex issues.
