Resumo

Pedagogical activities with literary texts have an essential function for the formation of critical and reflective subjects. However, it is noticeable that these literatures, roughly speaking, are on the margins of the school process, sometimes due to lack of adequate space, sometimes due to lack of initiative on the part of the teaching staff. Add to that the discouragement of students, the lack of pedagogical projects in the classrooms of elementary school II in the full-time state school that was the object of analysis of this academic production. In the opposite direction, there are the Portuguese Language teachers, who were interviewed by this researcher. These Education workers believe that literature is indeed a didactic resource of great application and value in the teaching-learning process, in addition to being an important motivator to form future critical-reflective readers. The central point of this article is to present the result of the research and subsequent reflection on the work with children's and youth literature in Portuguese language classes at the aforementioned teaching establishment, which is located in the municipality of Boca do Acre, Amazonas. In addition, the production on screen will display a range of authors who theorize about the importance of reading for children and young people, as a propelling tool for a liberating and libertarian Education. The methodology used for data collection was of a bibliographical and observational nature. The theoretical support used to base this production is essentially based on Minayo, Prodanov and Freitas. The results obtained with the research occurred in the field of instruction, based on the theoretical framework, analyzing all the assertions of the previously mentioned authors, as well as others, about the subject addressed. Another important fruit of the work happened with the field research, where two teachers from the aforementioned school answered questions about working directly with children's literature.
