Resumo

This work entitled “hip hop culture and discrimination: breaking dances, hip hop dance and house dance as enhancers of the appreciation of these afrodiasporic dances in the school environment”, seeks to understand the causes and main factors why these dances are not addressed and included as Culture in the Subject of Art. This research surveyed the discrimination and invisibility of the Hip Hop Movement in the school environment, and from this investigation the results achieved were the growth of their cultural and social knowledge, the development of critical-social research on the Hip Hop Movement, and the contribution also to the process of autonomy of each individual. This research was carried out in a public school with students in the 2nd year of high school, with the main objective of analyzing pedagogical practices and teaching and learning of Afro-diasporic dances through the reflections and expressive practices of students in the school environment. To achieve this general objective, the following were specific objectives: discussing racial and social discrimination with the school community and including Afro-diasporic dances as pedagogical practices; experience the skills of adolescents in practicing Afro-diasporic dances as a path to body research and social integration; and develop the historical-cultural-social knowledge of the Hip Hop Movement, expanding the practical knowledge of Afro-diasporic dances. The research is based on a qualitative approach. As for the purpose, it is exploratory and descriptive. Its technique is action research so that students think about Hip Hop Culture as a sociopolitical cultural movement. The survey obtained responses for all categories of analysis, in addition to contributing to the knowledge of each student, innovating creativity and autonomy, and expanding their historical-cultural knowledge. There is still a lot to discuss, and seek solutions to the problems that still exist within and outside Hip Hop Culture, and the solution to this is to increasingly include Afro-diasporic dances in the school environment.
