Resumo

Tourism is one of the main economic activities in Amazonas, driven by the exuberant beauty of the Amazon Rainforest. However, tourist exploitation generates several socioenvironmental impacts, such as sexual exploitation of children, trafficking in wild animals, exploitation of indigenous labor and invasion of protected areas. The research questions whether socio-environmental conflicts in tourism derive from the lack of public policies that follow the constitutional principles of environmental protection. In this sense, it supports the need to adapt the Amazonas State Tourism Policy to environmental constitutional principles to resolve socio-environmental conflicts and promote sustainable tourism development. The principle of environmental sustainability (art. 225 of the Federal Constitution) requires the conscious use of natural resources to guarantee their preservation for future generations. The Amazon Forest is a national heritage and its use must be done in a sustainable way. Environmental preservation does not impede economic and social development, but its non-conservation makes longterm development unfeasible. The State Tourism Policy of Amazonas must be in line with constitutional principles related to the environment. The research seeks to establish parameters for the creation of public policies to meet the demands related to tourist conflicts in Amazonas. The research objectives include describing the complexity of Amazonian socio-environmentalism, tourism as a matrix for sustainable development, socio-environmental conflicts and the need to adapt the State Tourism Policy of Amazonas to environmental constitutional principles. The deductive method will be used, with research focused on a legal-scientific approach with a focus on legal science. As for the means, bibliographical and documentary research will be used using doctrine, legislation and public documents and as for the ends, the research will be qualitative.
