Resumo

This research seeks to demonstrate, through a comparative analysis, the condition of women in Colonial Brazil, addressed in the literary novel Desmundo (1996) by Ana Miranda and in the cinematographic work Desmundo (2002) under the direction of the Frenchman, Alain Fresnot. The objective of this work aims to portray how the arts dialogue with regard to female representation and their role in that society. This is a bibliographical research of a qualitative nature, based on the comparative method whose authors such as Acízelo (2014) on methodological issues, Del Priore (2006 and 2011) with his approaches to the feminine, Beth Brait (2010) with the plurality of languages, Marcel Martin (1989) with the art of cinema, Alfredo Bosi (ed. 2015) with the art of literature, among others, helped to trace the paths of this work. It stands out, therefore, in this research, that the study points to a reflection on the colonial themes present in female submission in colonial Brazil, given through two artistic proposals and their singularities.
