Abstract

It aims to present a proposal for an Institutional Copyright Policy for the Library System of the Federal University of Amazonas. It employs a qualitative approach, with exploratory-descriptive objectives. The technical instruments used include documentary research and an electronic questionnaire, upon signature of a Free and Informed Consent Form, in order to understand the perception of librarians from the Library System of the Federal University of Amazonas regarding the topic and their needs. Analyze scientific literature and legislation pertinent to the area of copyright to outline a policy proposal that meets the needs of Library System of the Federal University of Amazonas. It highlights that the Institutional Copyright Policy for libraries is fundamental, considering that universities have been a place for generating science and disseminating knowledge and, with the advancement of technologies, it has generated greater insecurity among professionals who work in libraries, and therefore the Universities have drawn up guidelines in order to explain what uses and practices must be made by libraries to preserve authors' rights while providing access to information. Note that digitalization and collection preservation actions must be intensified, in addition to accessibility issues. There is a lack of training among professionals with regard to copyright, even though they recognize the need and high relevance of its existence.
