Resumo
The present work aims to report the personal, pedagogical and social challenges and
experiences of a student with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in Higher Education,
specifically in the Degree in Physical Education course at the State University of
Amazonas (UEA). Here, challenges, difficulties and barriers experienced by a student
with ASD are described, in an autobiographical way, supported by theoretical
references and legal inclusion frameworks, with questions about the true inclusion of
students with this disorder in higher education. The report is based on the author's
personal experience, questioning whether the legal guarantees are effectively fulfilled
or whether they remain merely in discourse. Inclusion is not just about creating policies
and laws, but also about ensuring that they are implemented and respected in the daily
lives of regular higher education institutions. It is essential to analyze how these
policies impact the academic and social life of students with ASD. The report takes a
journey through the author's personal, school and academic history, with descriptions
of the experiences and feelings experienced, from a perspective of including people
with ASD in a Higher Education Institution (HEI). It is expected that people can better
understand the needs, specificities and differences
