Resumo

To characterize the perception of the elderly about the factors that are part of the construction of their life projects. Method: Quantitative-qualitative, exploratory study, applied to elderly people registered with the Open University Foundation for the Elderly (FUnATI), through a virtual approach (beginning of collection) and in person. Results: the sample consisted of ten elderly people, with a predominance of females (96%), the age range of the interviewees that prevailed was 60 to 65 years old, indicating a group of young elderly people, married or in a stable union. The only man reported that after obtaining his retirement, he prefers not to join new actions, be it social, educational or cultural. Discussion: elderly people long to break new ground, have dreams and projects that require family support, interpersonal relationships and essentially public policy strategies that aim to provide better conditions so that they continue to feel like an essential part of society. Conclusion: Considering that the aging process is something natural and unique, it is important that quality of life is offered and that investments are made so that elderly people can continue to be active in society with personal and family goals to be achieved.
