O transporte fluvial de passageiros no Rio Amazonas: amostra do navio motor Almir Araújo, trajeto Manaus - Barreirinha, AM.

Abstract

Outcome of two scientific initiation projects PIBIC / CNPq (2017-2018) and voluntary IC (2018-2019), in the tourism course of the State University of Amazonas, in two years of research the monograph characterizes the large fluvial modalities, used by tourists and not tourists for displacements in the channels of the Amazonian rivers. It contributes with results on the typology of the vessels; describes the supply of large vessels with exits from the Port Roadway of Manaus and presents the structure and offer of the Motor Ship selected as a sample. Among the objectives: it analyzes the degree of satisfaction of the user and the perception of the commander on the boat and the path; describes the influence of the seasonality of the river in the supply of fluvial passenger transport in large vessels and evaluates the impact of the opportunities and the limitations in the offer of this modal for the route of a vessel in the channel of the Amazon river. If by plane the Manaus city is the main entrance gate in the Amazon, by boat the reality is different, with entrances via Pará, by the Amazon River; Tabatinga, by the Solimões River; Rondônia, Rio Madeira, among other alternatives. The methodology in secondary sources is based on data from the year 2018, provided by the Porto Roadway administration in Manaus. Then a qualitative-quantitative questionnaire applied with the commander of the vessel Almir Araújo, presents questions related to the route between Manaus and Barreirinha, by the Amazon River. The text is based on La Torre (2002), Benchimol (1995), Pereira (2013) and Macedo (2013). The complexity in the supply of fluvial transport in the Amazonian water network, which is not always regularized, with low inspection and lack of information organized and available to the public for fluvial displacement, guides this study that aims to improve the supply, value fluvial transport for tourism and propose the planning for the tourist potential that is the Amazon River. Guaranteeing this valuation can contribute to fostering the organization of tourism by changing the matrix of the economic model for the Brazilian Amazon. And in this case, reviewing the value attributed to air and road transport, fundamental in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, when the evolution of air transport on the one hand promoted the time-space compression in the movement of people, on the other, based on a commercial model led to the inactivation of river transport and with it an absence of public policy of valorization of this modal in regions whose water potential, associated with the potential of contemplation and valorization of flora and fauna, would break up imposed and disconnected models of the reality of the Amazonian places.
