Abstract

This work aims to understand the theoretical foundations of community organization and popular participation in the rural context. The material is divided into three units, initially addressing the relationship between work and education, the historical and conceptual bases of community education, and the concepts of formal and informal education. It then explores popular educational processes and social movements as drivers of community organization, culminating in an analysis of community education experiences in the Amazon, with a focus on liberating education and alternating pedagogy, aiming at social transformation through cooperation and critical awareness.
