Abstract

This work offers a critical and in-depth look at childhood and children in the Amazon region, and presents three interconnected units: the first explores the epistemological foundations of childhood and children in the Brazilian and rural cultural context; the second addresses childhood, education, and sociocultural diversity in Amazonian territories; and the third discusses the influence of school culture and policies for early childhood education on the development of rural children, highlighting social practices and play in this specific context.
