Decifrando o centro histórico da cidade de Parintins: um estudo semântico

Abstract

This research presents a semantic analysis of the article “Deciphering the Historic Center of the City of Parintins: A Semantic Study,” whose main objective is to understand the articulation between the past and the present in order to decipher the Historic Center of the city of Parintins semantically and the cultural and historical relationships of the place. The research seeks to interpret, semantically, the cultural and historical relationships that manifest themselves through the names of the streets, public places, and buildings that still remain in the city's urban landscape. Methodologically, the study is based on a bibliographic reading based on authors such as Antônio Bitencourt (1924) and Arthur Reis (1967) who analyze the memories and the formation process of Parintins. Added to this is the use of the concepts of roughness and inertia, discussed by Corrêa (2005) and Santos (2009), which address the persistent material and immaterial marks in urban space, even in the face of transformations imposed by time and social dynamics. These references allow us to understand the Center as a living space composed of multiple historical layers that coexist. The work also includes a systematic survey of theses, dissertations, and undergraduate theses from state and federal institutions. This study made it possible to identify the main aspects of the center, recording its limits, transformations, and names over the years. The results highlight urban elements that remain as testimonies of collective memory, reinforcing the role of the Historic Center as an identity and cultural reference for Parintins.
