Abstract

The present research aims to provide an introductory analysis of the tropes of the Venerable Bede, focusing on some more specific ones, contextualizing classical rhetoric, which seeks to understand its trajectory of formation, recognizing its importance as the art of organizing discourse. Bede reorganizes and explains a total of thirteen tropes, figures of change of meaning, which he uses for the interpretation of the Bible. These tropes are adapted for the Christian concept, being defined concisely and exemplified with biblical passages.
