Diferentes populações de anuros de uma mesma espécie, podem apresentar padrões diferentes de comportamentos defensivos?

Abstract

Defensive strategies in post-metamorphic anurans are diverse, such as aposematism, mimicry, venom production or behavioral displays used to escape predators. Among these strategies, behavioral defense mechanisms are varied defense displays used by anurans to repel or escape predation in a predation event. The present study sought to test the difference in defense displays for the species Boana geographica between two populations, one located in the Adolfo Ducke Forest Reserve in central Amazonia in Brazil and a second population in the Madidi National Park in Bolivia. The results of the present study suggest that different populations of the same species may have different repertoires of defense displays. This study highlights the importance of considering ecological and environmental factors when investigating behavioral differences between populations of the same species, which can contribute to more effective and targeted conservation strategies.
