Resumo
The cultural event in Novo Aripuanã is the Folklore Festival of Legends, popularly known as Fest Lendas. This event has been held for over 20 years and aims to promote, preserve, and value the cultural expressions of Aripuanã. The festival's origin is linked to the introduction of legends from the old dance festival, which transformed into Fest Lendas. The festival has become a cultural representation of the city and impacts various sectors, most precisely the cultural and consequently economic aspects. This article seeks to investigate how the festival originated and who were the agents responsible for its creation, considering the context and how the legends became hegemonic in relation to other existing manifestations at the time. The format of this study is an experience report based on historical research in the municipality of Novo Aripuanã, and its method is oral history. Thus, the sources were collected from the accounts of the interviewees, allowing for analysis of their statements and leading to a favorable conclusion regarding the advent of the festival in the community, as it constitutes a cultural identity that fosters the appreciation of cultural heritage. The festival also fosters local development, and its realization is indispensable both for public interest and cultural tradition.
