Resumo
This research originated from the experience gained during Supervised Internship I of the History degree course at the State University of Amazonas (UEA), carried out in public schools in Carauari/AM, in 2023. It was found that the History of Amazonas was absent from the schools' curriculum. The research was based on theories about the History of Amazonas such as those of Francisco Jorge dos Santos (2007) and Agnaldo Figueiredo (2017), as well as on the concept of cultural identity, as developed by Laraia (2001) and Burke (2008). The main objective was to examine how the teaching of the History of Amazonas could contribute to the formation of students' cultural identity. The specific objectives focused on identifying curricular gaps, investigating the cultural impacts of the exclusion of this content, and evaluating the role of administrators in the formulation of educational policies. The methodology adopted included bibliographic research, quantitative research, and oral history, whose results pointed to the need to include this theme in history teaching, or the use of other means suggested in the research that allow students to engage with regional education. It was concluded that the inclusion of the history of Amazonas can fill an educational and cultural gap, as well as strengthen the sense of belonging in future generations.
