Resumo
This work is an account of an experience stemming from a visit to the Maués Museum of Man. The museum is often understood as a repository of memory, where the documents present are merely archived, as there is no transmission of knowledge to a particular society. The research relied on the work of several theorists, including Cláudio Umpierre Carlan and Pedro Funari, among others, and required consulting sources such as the 1988 Federal Constitution, Article 26, the Statutes of Museums, Law No. 11,904 of January 14, 2009, and others. The research began with an attempt to understand the history of the Museum of Man, focusing on the archaeological artifacts found within its collection. The objective of this documentary analysis is to understand the historicity of the collections present at this location. It was necessary to seek out readings related to archaeology, heritage, oral history, and other related fields. The methodology used in this field research was oral history, aiming to recover the memories of the interviewed employees, which served to understand the importance of the local history of the objects. Therefore, the account of experience contributed to the research, which focuses on the importance of knowing the historicity of the museum.
