História local: a origem do município de Ipixuna-Am

Abstract

This research on the history of Ipixuna-AM highlights the importance of the rubber boom for the economic and social development of the region. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Ipixuna emerged as a strategic point for the extraction and commercialization of rubber, driven by international demand for this product. The region's inhabitants, many of them migrants from other countries, dedicated themselves to rubber extraction in the rubber plantations, facing geographical isolation and diverse climatic conditions. Through interviews with long-time residents who share their experiences over the decades, the research was conducted with the aim of preserving and valuing the collective memory of the community, capturing accounts that reflect the social, cultural, and economic transformations of the region. The accounts also emphasize the importance of local culture, including traditions, festivals, and the relationship with the environment. This work not only documents the personal history of the interviewees but also contributes to a broader understanding of the identity and resilience of the Ipixuna community over the years.
