Resumo
This experience report addresses the apathy of high school students towards the subject of History in the municipality of Carauari, AM, observed during supervised internships I and II. The study investigated the causes of this demotivation, highlighting three hypotheses: lack of interest in reading, disconnection from the past, and the exclusive use of textbooks. The research involved administering a questionnaire to 63 students, seeking to understand their perceptions of history teaching. The results indicated that, although most students recognize the importance of History, the lack of reading habits and the preference for dynamic and interactive classes are factors that contribute to disinterest. The action plan "Cultural Rescue: preserving our heritage," which integrated local cultural practices, had a positive impact, sparking student interest. It is concluded that, to improve engagement, it is necessary to diversify teaching methodologies, invest in technological resources, and promote teacher training. The study emphasizes the importance of making History more relevant and accessible, connecting the past with the students' reality.
