Resumo
This work is the result of a research entitled Didactic Strategies for Teaching Children with Down Syndrome in a Special Education School in the city of Parintins/Am, which aimed to investigate the didactic strategies used by teachers in teaching children in Education Infant of the II Period, with Down syndrome in a Special Education School in the city of Parintins/AM. And as a specific objective: to map didactic strategies in early childhood education for children with Down syndrome in education studies; identify the difficulties of teachers in the early childhood education of children with Down syndrome; analyze the didactic strategies used by teachers in teaching children with Down syndrome. The theoretical foundations focus on the characterization of special education and on the teaching strategies and perspectives developed to meet the special education of students with down syndrome according to authors such as: Castro and Pimentel (2009), Silva and Barreto (2012) and Rodrigues (2012) among other authors who discuss the topic investigated. The study is a qualitative research with a phenomenological approach, exploratory and descriptive in nature. The instruments for data collection were the semi-structured interview. The research results point to the importance of structuring the Teaching Systems to adequately assist children with Down syndrome, providing opportunities for them to develop new skills and abilities. In the end, this study contributes significantly to highlight the need to adapt the strategies implemented in schools, because each child with a disability has peculiarities with different levels to understand, think, speak, listen and live, and therefore, making it impossible to follow the same learning path at school.
