Deixa eu te contar: curso de contação de histórias

Abstract

This work is the result of a course of the same name held in 2020 by the State University of Amazonas in partnership with the UFAM Amazon Museum, during the social isolation period of the COVID-19 pandemic. The work explores storytelling as a fundamental cultural phenomenon, from its origins in oral tradition to contemporary practices in libraries, museums, and virtual environments. Divided into thematic units, it addresses children, youth, adults, and seniors, as well as narrative genres such as classics of children’s and young adult literature, Brazilian regional legends (especially those from the Amazon), ghost stories, and cordel literature. The book also highlights the role of reading mediation, the therapeutic and educational value of narratives, and the importance of valuing local culture, offering reflections and practical strategies for storytellers in different contexts.
