Resumo

This research aims to analyze the Problem Solving Methodology for the Teaching of Mathematics, for which a qualitative approach was used, using a literature review with a systematic point of view, based on a research of scientific articles carried out in the SciELO database, digital library and academic google. The theoretical review was based on the ideas of George Polya, a scholar, professor and mathematician, who was considered the father of Problem Solving, and other scholars in the area such as Dante (2000) and Onuchic (1999). In view of the exploration of the researched scientific bibliographic sources, these works were the ones that served to carry out the study, and with this, the importance of problem solving in the teaching of mathematics is noticeable, as it promotes or awakens in students the curiosity for mathematics in relating to their daily lives in the pursuit of their mathematical knowledge in view of the need in society.
